Charlie Schluter
After graduating High School Charlie served in the US Navy for 6 years. After being honorably discharged from active duty he worked as an EMT while continuing his education. After a couple of years Charlie took the opportunity to begin a new career with Air Liquide in operations at a facility in Dallas, TX. During his time at Air Liquide he was able to support many different business functions and projects. It was at Air Liquide that Charlie gained his professional experience in Project Management, Commissioning & Startup, Maintenance, Turnarounds, Procedure Writing, Engineering, Controls & Automation, and more.
After Air Liquide Charlie went to work for another large Air Separation company working in the project group assisting in the Greenfield development of 3 large SMR facilities. There he was able to continue to gain experience in FEED engineering, project execution, construction management, and more. The projects that Charlie supported during that time were mostly in the Renewables sector giving him a key insight to the emerging Renewables sector of the industry.
After 10 years on the owners/operations side of the industry Charlie went to work for an engineering firm in Houston, TX. There he continued gain experience as a Senior Project Manager responsible for leading the execution of several large EPC projects across the United States. In his role as Senior Project Manager Charlie was responsible for managing all aspects of the project from detailed engineering through commissioning and startup.
Charlie continued to take the experience he’d gained to another Gulf Coast EPC firm helping grow a commissioning & startup division into a thriving business. Getting to work with what he says, “Are some of the best teammates, and mentors he’s ever had in the business.”
Charlie was finally able to take the opportunity with his 20 plus years of experience to help start Orion Plant Services in 2022. Since starting Orion Plant Services Charlie has been promoted from VP of Commissioning & Startup to President. In this role as President Charlie leads the company continuing to build on his growing years of experience. Charlie says, “I’m excited to lead what I believe is the best team in the industry, and I’m proud to be apart of it.”. Charlie continues to lead OPS focusing on providing clients with solutions relative to commissioning & startup services, procedure development/writing, training program development, operations management/support, maintenance support services, HSE program development/consulting, and site-seconded support.
Charlie resides in Midlothian, TX with his wife Dayna, their two Boston Terriers (Roscoe & Ollie) and two cats (Max & Thor). He and Dayna also spend as much time as they can at their barn with their four horses. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting and fishing. Charlie is a volunteer and contributor to the Ellis County Ducks Unlimited and serves as the VP of his community HOA.
