Industrial Gases Production Operator
Description

Our client company produces industrial, medical, and specialty gases, and associated gas handling equipment in North America.

We are seeking a chemical or refinery plant experienced operator to assist with their air separation production requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Sets up and/or operators manufacturing process in accord with published Work Instructions.
  • Changes reactants, operates valves, controls, and related items to obtain specified flow rates, temperatures, and pressures.
  • Fills finished product into cylinders or correlates filling with the Gas Filling Department.
  • Performs general, preventative maintenance on gas or chemical manufacturing equipment.
  • Maintains daily inventory production records.
  • Maintains run charts for performance of scales.
  • Collect samples for quality assurance testing and perform various routine chemical analysis.
  • Controls inventory of raw material.
  • Performs all other tasks as assigned by local plant management.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to perform mathematical exercises of moderate complexity.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and hands on capability is required.
  • Conscientious and common-sense attitude toward safety due to position requirements of handling a variety of hazardous materials is required.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lb. and able to handle compressed gas cylinders.
  • Prior experience in the chemical, petroleum, food processing, or pharmaceutical industries is preferred.
  • Prior experience with handling, filling, manufacturing, disposing compressed gases is very beneficial.
  • Prior experience with hazardous chemicals, such as air sensitive, flammable, reactive and corrosive materials is useful.
  • Should have experience working with the production and manufacture of Air Separation Units (ASU).
  • Prior safety training in first aid, CPR, Hazmat, Emergency response is useful.
Accountabilities
  • Notifies supervisor when maintenance of equipment requires greater expertise than he/she possesses.
  • Recommends process and equipment changes as needed.
  • Recommends process changes to improve the quality/purity of the products manufactured.
  • Performs scale and instrument calibration checks as required by company quality system.
  • Notifies Supervisor of quality assurance problems.
  • Adheres to all quality assurance policies and standards.
  • Keeps working area clean and orderly, follows all company procedures and safety policies.
  • Inspects manufacturing equipment daily to ensure the safe operation of the chemical process.
  • Keeps leak detection equipment, if required, in good working order.
